Amazon Prime Video is one of the most popular streaming services in Oman, next to Netflix. But many people are not sure how it works here: is it the same as Amazon Prime, what does it cost, and how do you sign in on a smart TV? This guide answers the common questions and ends with the best shows to start with.
Is Amazon Prime Video available in Oman?
Yes. Prime Video works in Oman and in almost every country in the world, on phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, Fire TV and game consoles. The library is a little different in each country. In Oman you get the Amazon originals, a lot of Hollywood, Indian and Arabic content, and many titles with Arabic subtitles.
Prime Video vs Amazon Prime: what is the difference?
Amazon Prime is Amazon's shopping membership, with fast delivery and other benefits in countries where Amazon runs a store. Prime Video is the streaming service for movies and series. You can watch Prime Video without the shopping benefits, and that is all you need if you only want to stream.
Amazon Prime Video price in Oman
Amazon's own price depends on your country, your payment card and current offers, and it can change at any time. A cheaper way is a personal profile on a shared account: on arafatbin.com you get your own PIN-locked Prime Video profile in Full HD for 2 months for OMR 3, paid in OMR, USD or BDT. Amazon's free trial is not offered everywhere and needs your own card; with us you test the account before setup instead.
The Prime Video app
Install the official Prime Video app from your device's store: the App Store on iPhone and iPad, Google Play on Android, the Microsoft Store on Windows, or your smart TV's app store. Search for "Prime Video" and choose the app published by Amazon. Keep it updated for the best picture and fewer errors.
Signing in and the primevideo.com/mytv code
- On a phone or tablet: open the app, enter the email of the account, and sign in with the password or a one-time code (OTP) sent to that email.
- On a smart TV or Fire TV: open Prime Video and choose to sign in. The TV may show a short code and ask you to visit primevideo.com/mytv on a phone or computer that is already signed in, and type the code there. The TV then signs in by itself.
- If you buy from arafatbin.com, you never need the website: send us the code from your TV and we activate it for you.
Profiles and the 5-digit Prime Video PIN
A Prime Video account can have several profiles, each with its own watch history and Watchlist, plus a Kids profile. Prime Video uses a 5-digit PIN to lock profiles and to stop purchases. On our accounts every buyer gets a personal profile locked with their own 5-digit PIN, so nobody else can open it.
Downloading to watch offline
In the app on phones and tablets, tap the download button on a movie or episode. Amazon sets the rules: downloads usually expire 30 days after you download them, or 48 hours after you start watching, and can be renewed when the device is online. It is perfect for flights between Muscat, Salalah and abroad.
What to watch first on Prime Video
- Reacher: a giant ex-military investigator and a new conspiracy every season.
- The Boys: corrupt superheroes and the people fighting them.
- Fallout: the video game world brought to life after a nuclear war.
- Jack Ryan: John Krasinski as the CIA analyst turned field agent.
- The Rings of Power: the Lord of the Rings story thousands of years earlier.
- Invincible: an animated superhero story with big surprises.
- Mirzapur and The Family Man: the biggest Indian series on Prime.
- Road House and Air: two of the best Amazon original films.
