Remove Arabic Diacritics (Tashkeel)
Remove harakat (tashkeel) from Arabic text, with options to remove tatweel and to write أ إ آ as ا. Copy the clean text in one tap.
Result
Diacritics (tashkeel, harakat) such as fatha, damma, kasra, shadda and tanween help reading, but they get in the way of searching, sorting and some fonts. Paste your Arabic text and the diacritics are removed as you type.
You can also remove the tatweel stretch (ـ) and write every form of alif with hamza or madda (أ إ آ) as a plain ا, which helps when you compare or search words. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Paste or type Arabic text.
- Tick the extra options you need.
- Read the clean text below; it changes as you type.
- Press Copy.
Questions
Which marks are removed?
All Arabic diacritics: fatha, damma, kasra, sukun, shadda and tanween, the superscript alif (ٰ) and the Quranic marks (Unicode U+064B–U+065F, U+0670 and U+06D6–U+06ED). Letters and punctuation stay.
What is tatweel?
The stretch line (ـ) that makes a word longer, as in مـحـمـد. It is only decoration, so removing it gives محمد.
Why write أ إ آ as ا?
People type alif in different ways, so the same word can be written أحمد or احمد. Normalising helps searching, matching names and removing duplicates. Leave it off for text people will read.
Is my text saved?
No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
