Website Maintenance Checklist: What to Do Every Month – guide by arafatbin.com

Like a car, a website needs regular care. Without it, plugins get old, security holes appear, forms stop working and information goes out of date. Use this checklist once a month.

1. Take a backup

Before anything else, save a full copy of your website and database somewhere safe, away from your hosting.

2. Update software

  • Update WordPress or your platform.
  • Update themes and plugins one by one.
  • Remove plugins you no longer use.
  • Check the site after updating.

3. Check security

  • Make sure SSL is valid and the site loads on https.
  • Use strong passwords and remove old user accounts.
  • Scan for malware or strange new files.

4. Test forms and buttons

Send yourself a test message from every form, and tap your WhatsApp and call buttons on a phone.

5. Check speed

Run Google PageSpeed Insights on your main pages. If scores drop, look for new large images or scripts.

6. Look for broken links

Fix or redirect any page that shows a 404 error.

7. Update content

  • Prices, offers and opening hours (including Ramadan and holidays).
  • Photos of new products or work.
  • A new blog post or news item if you can.

8. Review Search Console

Check for new errors, pages not indexed and which searches bring visitors.

No time?

A monthly maintenance plan does all of this for you, with backups, updates, checks and small changes, so you can focus on your customers.
