Figma to HTML: How a Design Becomes a Working Website – guide by arafatbin.com

A design in Figma, Adobe XD or Photoshop is a picture of a website. To work in a browser it has to be rebuilt as code. Here is what that process looks like and how to make it smooth.

1. Structure with HTML

The developer turns each part of the design, like the header, sections, cards and footer, into clean HTML with proper headings so Google and screen readers understand the page.

2. Style with CSS

Colours, fonts, spacing and layouts are written in CSS, matching the design closely. Modern CSS grid and flexbox make the layout adapt to every screen.

3. Make it responsive

Most designs show desktop and maybe mobile. The developer fills in the sizes between so the page looks right on every phone, tablet and laptop.

4. Add interaction with JavaScript

Menus, sliders, tabs, forms and animations are added with light JavaScript, keeping the page fast.

5. Optimise and launch

Images are compressed, code is cleaned up, and the site is tested in different browsers before going live.

How to prepare your design

  • Use consistent colours, fonts and spacing (styles in Figma help).
  • Include mobile versions of key pages if you can.
  • Name layers clearly and export images in high quality.
  • Provide the real text, not placeholder text.
  • Share fonts and icons, or confirm they are free to use.
