Tips

  • Put the main keyword near the start of the title.
  • Give every page its own title and description.
  • Write the description as a short promise: what the page offers and why to click.
  • Add your brand at the end of the title, after a | or –.
  • Use the language of the page: an Arabic page gets an Arabic title.

The preview and the pixel widths are estimates. Google decides how a result looks and may change the title or description.

The title and description of a page are often the first thing people see of your business on Google. Type them here with the page address to see a close copy of the result on desktop and mobile, before you publish.

The tool measures the width in pixels, like Google does, and shows where a long title or description would be cut with “…”. Arabic text is shown right to left by itself. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Type the page title.
  2. Type the meta description.
  3. Type the page address (URL) and, if you like, the site name.
  4. Shorten anything shown in red until it fits.

Questions

How long should a title be?

About 600 pixels on desktop, which is roughly 50 to 60 English characters or a little fewer in Arabic. Google measures pixels, not characters, so wide letters like W or م take more space than narrow ones like i.

How long should a meta description be?

About 920 pixels on desktop, roughly 150 to 160 characters. A longer description is cut with “…”. Put the most useful words first.

Will Google show exactly this?

Not always. The preview is an estimate: Google decides the final title and description, may rewrite them to match the search, and changes its layout from time to time.

Does it work with Arabic titles?

Yes. Arabic text is shown right to left automatically, as Google does, and its width is measured the same way.

Why does each page need its own title?

Each page answers a different search. A unique title and description help Google show the right page and help people choose your result.
